Tips to Finding Tanning Beds for Sale

An important section of your tanning salon business plan will be the purchase of commercial tanning beds.  

Whether your capital investment is large enough to include the purchase of new tanning beds or you are looking for good quality used beds, there are many resources available to you.  In fact, most businesses that sell new tanning beds also sell used.   Tanning bed prices can vary greatly so it is worth your time to check a few different avenues before you buy a bed.

When it is time to purchase your tanning beds, know what you are looking for.  There will be a few different areas you will be researching: high pressure tanning beds, canopy tanning beds, discount tanning beds, tanning bed lamps and tanning bed supplies.

High pressure tanning beds use specialized bulbs and reflectors that transmit mainly UVA rays with limited UVB rays.  Traditional tanning beds transmit UV rays.  Because of the specialized bulbs and other equipment on the high pressure tanning bed it's tanning power is higher, but so is its cost.

A canopy tanning bed is typically for home use.  They are very portable and adjustable.  There is no attached bed to the canopy tanning bed: that section is supplied by the owner of the unit.  Because of that only one side of the body is tanned at any time.  Consistent coverage is harder to achieve.

Discount tanning beds is usually what every prospective salon owner is looking for, but beware, discount tanning beds can vary greatly in quality.   Inform yourself about the different makes and models of beds so you can make a quality decision.

There are many web sites offering tanning beds for sale.  Some will be more reputable than others.  Ask where they have gotten the tanning bed from, how many hours are on the bed, how often the bulbs need to be changed, how old is the bed and if there is any maintenance history on the bed.  All of these things will let you know if that particular bed is a good purchase or not. 

Do a little checking on the business selling tanning beds as well.  Ask for references and then spend the time to check them out.  Find out about their follow up support, warranties and guarantees.  This is a big purchase, take the time to make it the right one. 

Check with other tanning salons, they might be upgrading and have a used bed that would be a perfect starting bed for a new salon. 

Learn when different tanning expos are being held and where.  It is expensive to ship tanning beds.  It might be more advantageous for a tanning bed company to steeply discount a bed that didn't sell at the expo than ship it back to their store.

Many of the sale sites that sell commercial tanning beds also sell beds intended for home use.  Before you purchase a bed, make sure you have the necessary room to house it.  If space is limited, look at tanning lamps or a canopy tanning bed that can be stored upright.  It is a good solution for space limitations.

When an individual is looking for tanning beds for sale, the same criteria apply.  Look at purchasing from a salon that is upgrading, from a tanning expo or from any number of web sites that sell tanning beds.  

Finding tanning beds for sale is not difficult, neither is knowing what will work for you.  Take the time to be informed, make the best decision possible and you should get a tanning bed that will last you for quite a few years.
